#2 Live Male Blue Crabs
Mid-grade male blue crabs — smaller than #1s, but full of meat and a much friendlier price. The smart pick for big crab feasts where quantity matters.
What #2 Males Means
After the watermen pull out the #1s (the biggest), the rest of the keeper males get graded as #2. They run 5 to 6 inches across the shell — smaller than #1s, but still plenty of meat in the claws, body, and back fin.
If you’re feeding a crowd and don’t want to spend a small fortune, #2 males are the move. Same flavor, same Chesapeake Bay sweetness, just a little more picking work.
What You’re Getting
- #2 grade males only — no females, no smalls
- 5-6 inch shell width (point-to-point)
- Hard-shell, blue claw, live on arrival
- Pulled fresh same day
Why Order #2 Males
Honestly? Most regulars order #2s for everyday crab dinners and save #1s for special occasions. The meat-to-shell ratio is still great, the price is significantly better, and you get more crabs per bushel. For a crab feast with 8-12 people, a bushel of #2s usually does the job.
